Synopsis

The collective “Anybody Walking?” not only strengthens and develops the ballroom community, but also the queer BIPOC space in Hessen. It highlights the ballroom scene as a cultural movement. The Kiki Ball and the Major Ball are aimed at participants with different levels of experience. Both events focus on the importance of ballroom and voguing as a historically mature and resistant culture – especially because the movement has been increasingly commercialised and referenced. German Mother Panama Mulan (Kiki House of Hua Mulan) and all the other initiators prioritise passing on knowledge, maintaining the culture and empowering queer, trans* and non-binary People of Colour.

The Major Ball featuring international stars raises the profile of ballroom culture in Hessen, creates new dance networks and epitomises inclusion, self-determination and artistic freedom.
