FERAL REVERIE
PARVIN SALJOUGHI

Two performers hover above a dark stage while holding each other by the forearms. Striped light falls across their bodies and clothing, creating a balanced composition that combines proximity, symmetry, and a sense of weightlessness.
Three performers occupy a dark stage. One performer moves close to the floor, another extends a leg in a broad motion, while a third stands to the side.
Three short-haired individuals with bare chests stand against a dark background. Wearing dark trousers, they raise their arms upwards while sparkling particles or water droplets fly through the air and red light illuminates them.

Synopsis

How are bodies shaped under conditions of surveillance, categorisation and social norms yet are still able to assert their capacity to act independently?

In Feral Reverie choreographer and performer Parvin Saljoughi creates a stage space that challenges all certainties. Three performers move through a world of digital landscapes, distortions and displacements. Movements are broken off; rhythms fall out of time – moments when control is lost generate new kinds of togetherness. Projections, 3D animations and an intense sound design extend the stage space into a shimmering indeterminate world.

Saljoughi regards feral “wildness” as an image of the uncontrollable, of a kind of resistance to what is supposed to make people scrutable, predictable and controllable. In her choreography, disturbances, interruptions and haziness, even irritation, open up new possibilities. Feral Reverie is an intense exploration of freedom, vulnerability and the question of what remains of us when familiar regimes fall apart.

Volume & Acoustics: The performance contains moments of very loud sound and sudden acoustic impact (such as amplified audio and sharp sonic events). Additionally, balloon popping creates sudden loud sounds. Earplugs are provided and strongly recommended due to high sound levels.

Content Warning: In one sequence, a performer’s head is passed between performers by kicking it. This may be perceived as violent.

What are indications regarding content and sensory stimuli?
