Synopsis

WENN ES PLÖTZLICH STILL WIRD is a corporeal and musical exploration of imminent danger: the moment before something happens, when there’s something in the air, the equilibrium is disturbed or there’s a shift in the atmosphere. Intuition kicks in before awareness can act. At that moment, the body inserts itself between oneself and the world. A moment of absolute presence.
Inspired by action films and horror survival games, the piece translates brutal close combat situations with female protagonists into choreographic language. Her own interviews and accounts of the experiences of security operatives and people in dangerous jobs also informed the movement research.

How does danger manifest itself in the body? Where does it store tension? Which postures are produced?

The music, composed and played live by electronic musician Sebastian Wasner, and the immersive stage and lighting design by the artist Lukas Ipsmiller create a space in which internalised danger is transposed into movement and the ability to act.
