Focus on frevo: the traditional Brazilian dance is full of energy and joie de vivre and forms part of the movement language in Calixto Neto’s solo Outrar. Originating in the city of Recife at the beginning of the 20th century and strongly influenced by the movements of the Afro-Brazilian martial art capoeira, frevo is frequently associated with Brazilian carnival.

In the workshop participants will learn the dance and explore the relationship between movement and the compelling rhythms of the music with Calixto Neto.
