Karussell
Regina Rossi
Sypnosis
Life is not a pony farm – but maybe it’s a merry-go-round? In her dance piece for children aged three and over, the Hamburg-based Brazilian choreographer Regina Rossi invites her young audience on a poetic journey through the world of feelings. Karussell is celebration of emotion through movement, where anger, fear, grief and joy can be experienced with the help of a lot of physical expression, music and adaptable stage elements. Dance and play create a space in which both the youngest and adult members of the audience are able to encounter their own feelings – directly, imaginatively and as equals. Rossi’s artistic language combines contemporary dance with elements of samba, capoeira, performance art and pop culture, and she regards art as a form of social activity. Karussell is an intelligent and touching look at the diversity of emotional experience and an invitation to all generations to take feelings seriously – and to celebrate them together in all their vitality. A chance to empathise, be amazed and keep on turning – for everyone who is keen to discover the world through dance.
